March 2, 1935 – August 31, 2013
Kermit “Dale” Kohutek, a resident of Nursery, Texas, and former longtime resident of Alvin, Texas, passed peacefully from this world to be with his heavenly father on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at the age of 78 years. He was welcomed into his new life with Christ by his beloved mother and father, Ella and Bernard Kohutek, grandparents Andy and Josephine Kohutek, and Adolph and Katie Heyne, grandchildren, Brandon Sipps and Krystal Thompson and his nephew, Larry Kohutek. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Rosella Kohutek, his eight children, Kathy Humbird, Allan Kohutek, Jack Kohutek, Karen Oesch, Wanda Johnson, Cindy Mudd, Patricia Sipps, and Mark Kohutek, their spouses and 22 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Dale was born and raised in Freer, Texas. After moving to Victoria to attend college, he met and married the love of his life, Rosella, on July 3, 1954. He worked as a chemical operator for Union Carbide for five years before serving his country in the U.S. Army and for another ten years after returning home to Victoria from his military duty. In 1968 he moved his growing family to beautiful farm in Clinton, Iowa, when he took a job as a chemical operator foreman for Chemplex. Dale and his family enjoyed living in Iowa for two and a half years where they enjoyed colorful autumn leaves, snowy winters, and several picture perfect white Christmases. Longing to be close to his parents, he moved his family back Alvin, Texas in 1970, when he took a job as a chemical supervisor for the Amoco Chocolate Bayou Chemical Plant. Dale worked for BP/Amoco until retiring in 1996 as their Training Coordinator. After retirement from BP/Amoco, Dale went on to serve as consultant for BP/Amoco and Georgia Pacific where he designed computer based training programs for the chemical and paper mill industries. In 2004, he retired from his consulting work and moved to his family homestead in Nursery, Texas where he lived the remainder of his years, enjoying the simple pleasures of ranching and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Dale was a wonderful husband and father. He was very fortunate to have been surrounded by his very large, loving family during the hours before his passing. He felt that his greatest accomplishment in life was his family. The comfort, wisdom and humor found in his presence will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 pm on Monday, September 2, 2013, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel followed by a rosary and memorial service from 7:00-8:00 pm.
