In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife, Doristeen Edwards Brown, daughters, Marjorie Gentry, Gwen Ware (Anthony) Pruitt, Alexis Ware, Tyra Brown, Vanice Beasley, La Reese (Elbert) Perry, and Kimberly Turner. He is also survived by his sons, James Edwards, Patrick Ware, Elgin (Janie) Brown, Steven (Marilyn) Brown, Stanley (Tessa) Brown and Lawrence Brown. In addition to his wife, children, and sister, Una Mae Jones, he leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives to cherish his memory.

A visitation will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be on Friday, January 18, 2019, 10:00 a.m., at Mount Nebo Baptist Church, with burial to immediately follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
