Elizabeth LaVerne McCloud, 97, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018. She was born August 12, 1921 in Edna to the late Rupert Alonzo and Elizabeth Moore Drake. She retired after teaching 35 years. LaVerne was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia McCloud and son, Simon (Judy) McCloud Jr., all of Houston; grandchildren, Simon (Sally) McCloud III and Lanson Wade McCloud; great-grandson, Simon McCloud IV. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Simon McCloud Sr.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 4 pm at St. Francis Episcopal Church with Rev. Stephen Carson officiating.

Memorials may be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church, Hospice of South Texas or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
