Leona (Macha) Sumbera

Leona N. Macha Sumbera, age 92, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010. She was born June 16, 1918 in Cuero to the late Joe and Annie Kalich Macha. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and SPJST. She was a former member of the Lone Tree Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She was a homemaker and was very special to her family.

She is survived by her children, Ronald G. Sumbera and wife Dienne of Victoria, Marilyn R. Franz of Inez, and Lois M. Sumbera of La Porte; sister, Pauline Neslony and husband Bernard of Corpus Christie; brothers, Bill “W. J.” Macha of Yoakum; five grandchildren, Wendy Schoonover (Dwayne Honc), Marie Immenhauser (Brandon), Clinton Franz (Denise), Clayton Franz (Tisha), and George B. Sumbera; 13 great grandchildren, Mason, Kelsey, David, Melanie, Brittany, Trista, Kaley, Dylan, Macey, Willie, Alec, and Hannah; sister-in-laws, Milady Waida of Garland and Lillie Mae Sumbera of Sinton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Sumbera; and sisters, Louise Hanus, Stella Trlica, and Edna Hanus.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Monday, October 25, 2010 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Monday. The Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dan Morales officiating. Burial will follow at Shillerville Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Leroy Sumbera, Gerald Trlica, David Hanus, Billy Macha, Lawrence Neslony, Van Shumbera, Mark Shumbera, and Tommy Macha. Honorary pallbearers are George B. Sumbera, Clinton Franz, Clayton Franz, Dwayne Honc, Brandon Immenhauser, Mason Schoonover, Charles Trlica, Joe Henry Hanus, Michael Hanus, Buck Waida, and Glenn Neslony.
