Lucia “Lucy” G. Jimenez, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 2, 2019. Lucy was born January 25, 1926 in Goliad to the late Primitivo and Apolonia “Paula” Guzman DeLaGarza. Lucy was a dedicated worker who worked all her life. She believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and was a faithful servant. Lucy loved to read her newspaper every morning and loved watching her game shows and basketball. She had a very giving heart and would help anyone she could. After the passing of her husband 46 years ago, Lucy became a single mother. She worked hard to provide for her children and put them through school and college. Her biggest joy was being called “grandma” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lucy is survived by her daughters, Sylvia Salazar (Leon) of Houston, Sandra Jimenez (Tracy Taylor) of Victoria; sons, Rudolph G. Jimenez of McAllen, David Jimenez of Victoria, Dennis G. Jimenez (Ruby) of Victoria; sister, Adela Farias of Tivoli; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raphael Jimenez; son, Robert Allen Jimenez; 7 sisters and 5 brothers. Visitation will be Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 5-7 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be Monday, January 7, 2019 at 1 PM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with Rev. Patino officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery Pallbearers will be Paul Salazar, Jeremy Jimenez, Catarino “Cat” Gonzalez, Chris Jimenez, Cody Jimenez, Leandrew Salazar, Robert “Robbie” Jimenez and T.J. We new her as “Mama Lucy”! I am Amy’s aunt on her mother’s side! I was honored to have known her! What a wonderful and caring person she was! Loved her, she was family! I pray the whole family finds peace that she is now resting and that all of you keep her in your hearts!
