Ma Susie R. Jacaba. 62, of Victoria, Texas passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. Susie was born on August 21, 1957 to the late Geronimo Z. Jacaba and Prescila R. Jacaba in M’Lang Cotabato City, Philippines.
Susie is survived by her daughter, Ma Preslaine Neuville, her granddaughter, Prescilla Mae Neuville, her sister, Nona Terones and her two brothers, Augustin and Joel Jacaba.
Susie was a NICU nurse in the Philippines before immigrating to America in 2005, where she continued to work as a nurse for DeTar Hospital in the same department. She helped bring joy into peoples’ lives for thirty years as a nurse, fifteen in the Philippines and fifteen in Texas. After settling into the Victoria area, she did her best to help other Filipinos settle as they got here, in any which way she could. She was always ready to lend a hand. She was especially fond of her granddaughter, Prescilla – the two became inseparable partners-in-crime since their first meeting. Susie was also fond of gardening, with a green thumb that would produce flowers and vegetables just as colorful as her smile. She was also a fantastic cook, anything she made was always scrumptious and difficult to replicate with her flavor profile. Susie loved fishing, almost as much as she loved cooking them. Her love of quilting is where she was famously known as a visionary artist- producing beautiful quilts one after another with her lovely quilting sisters.
