Marion Carol Moore, 72, a woman of generous heart and a radiant smile, went to live in eternal peace with the Lord on September 29, 2016. Born September 6, 1944 to Josephine Beck Moore and William Marshall Moore, Jr, she spent the greater part of her childhood living in Goliad, Texas with her parents and two harassing older brothers, Bill and Greg. She graduated from Victoria High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Education from the University of Houston and a Master’s of Science from Texas A&I Kingsville. She was a woman of great faith and a member of Baptist Temple Church.
Marion’s passion for education led her on a path of lifelong teaching in schools and churches including service with The Corpus Christi State School, Ingram and Rockport-Fulton Independent School Districts, Victoria Independent School District (Crain Middle School) and Victoria College (Adult Education). She also spent time as a missionary teacher in Puerto Rico and operated an art gallery in Kerrville, Texas. She unconditionally loved and served others, seeing the face of Jesus in every person she encountered. She was a gifted cook and shared food that brought great joy to her family and friends.
Marion is survived by her brother William “Bill” Marshall Moore III of Port O’Connor, niece Robin Elizabeth Knipling (Pat) of Victoria, nephew William Marshall Moore IV (Audrey Kay) of Austin and daughter by heart Becky Beck Dryden (Greg) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is also survived by the family’s beloved children Jenni (Ben) Mangas, Clayton Dryden, Timothy Dryden, Colton Knipling, Caleigh Knipling, William Marshall Moore V and Lincoln David Moore. Marion’s smile and loving spirit will be missed by numerous family members, friends and former students too great in number to name, each of whom she loved like her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Lewis Gregory Moore.
Family and friends will gather to honor Marion at a Celebration of Life service led by Pastor J.V. Helms on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Baptist Temple Church with a fellowship gathering following the service. A private burial service will follow at a later date when she will be laid to rest with family at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Yoakum, Texas.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Victoria College Foundation, Hospice of South Texas or donor’s choice.
