I first met Mark when I started with Dow in 2016.  I worked with him for 4 years in the GPIMS team.  I knew immediately that he was a great person that I shared a lot of common interests and enjoyed conversing with.  We would talk about a lot of different topics in our daily work environment and our previous/current life experiences outside of work.  He would tell me about his time in the Navy and I found it to be very intriguing.  I traveled to San Diego with him in 2018 for a GIS conference and he shared a lot of good stories while there.  I had talked with him the afternoon of March 4th and we had a great conversation.  I was immediately shocked to find out several days later of his passing.  I will truly miss Mark and I pray the comfort of Jesus Christ to the rest of his family during this difficult time.

I met Mark about the time we became teenagers.  We were close friends, loved The Beatles: even had Beatle Boots and we had those cool jackets with no collars made and wore them together.  I went with Mark and his  family on boat outings and such, and sadly  we lost track of each other after Mark and Peggy's wedding.
Which make this so painful to lose my buddy now.  In the last year we had reestablished contact and only a month ago, Mark came over to visit, and it was like we were never apart.  I can say that I've only known a few people who everyone liked: one was my dad, and so was Mark.  I am sorry for all the years gone by, but I am so greatful for the afternoon of renewed friendship we had. 
I'm gonna miss you , man.  You and Peggy and family  are all in my prayers every day.  Vaya con Dios, Mark.

I met Mark when I joined Pipeline team in Nov 2018.  He is very respected in our team.  He was very excited about retiring and traveling with his wife.  I am very saddened to hear of his passing.  May he Rest In Peace.  My condolences to his wife, Peggy and rest of his family.  

I first met Mark about 10 years ago during the time we were both at Gulf Coast Pipeline. I got to know Mark early on and found him to be a great person who genuinely cared about others and about doing things right.  I enjoyed our discussions over the years as they would often drift into family and faith. There was never enough time to really finish things - so we had kind of a running conversation that we would pick up whenever  we crossed paths. I am saddened by his departure and I pray God’s comfort to Peggy and his family. 
The last time I spoke with Mark was a couple of  months ago. He shared about the great time he was having traveling and being with family.  It reminded me of the old days and we agreed to keep in touch.  And while I certainly miss him, I do look forward to finishing the conversation.

I met Mark when I joined the Seadrift Pipeline team in 1989.  We soon realized that we shared common interests outside of work.     I will always remember Mark coming to stay at my house and going to a Jethro Tull concert together in Houston.  Over the years, any conversation that initiated with a cathodic protection or GIS issue, always ended with a much longer discussion about our music collections, audiophile equipment, BBQing, travel experiences and family. 
Another connection with Mark was made when I realized that Gene and Eva, a couple that I knew through John Wesley Methodist Church in Victoria, were the parents of Mark’s wife, Peggy.
I retired in May 2020 and Mark a month later in June 2020.  Since then we stayed in touch and the focus of our telephone conversations expanded to include camper vehicles and travel experiences.  We talked about meeting up with our campers and sitting around a campfire at some time in the future.
Mark was a kind, caring man who valued his family and friends.  As all who knew him have experienced, Mark was a genuine and loving person that made a positive impact on everyone he encountered.
I will truly miss Mark and pray that Peggy and family find comfort in their faith and wonderful memories.


Mark Harper was a kind, caring, giving soul. He was a man who had the courage of his convictions with high integrity.  He was a person who unselfishly shared his knowledge and passion with his friends, peers, and co-workers.  
I met Mark in 1991 when I was fresh out of college and joined the Union Carbide/ Seadrift Pipeline company.  I worked closely with Mark for several years.  He took me under his wing and has forgotten more than I will ever know about cathodic protection and corrosion control.
Over the years as our friendship grew, I got to know about his wife and children of whom he spoke lovingly and fondly.  I remember he used to be an avid cyclist. I enjoyed listening to his stories of the road.  He was also quite an audiophile.  We would talk about his record collection and shared common musical interests.
Mark was like a brother to me and I will sorely miss him. He always had a smile on his face, a kind word, and was a breath of fresh air.
Adios, hermano. Que en paz descanses.


I met Mark in early 2017 when I took on a new position at Dow.  Mark would come into my office when he visited the Angleton team and always said Hello with a big smile and a  positive glow.  His heart was always in a good place.  He wanted to do what was best for our work team and always saw the best in others.  My sincerest condolences to Peggy and the entire family.  We will miss Mark.

I met Mark back in 2006 when he came to visit our Atlanta office.  We worked together for 4.5 years, when I was onsite in Angleton.  We would often talk, laugh, and catch up when he drove up to Angleton for meetings.  Even when I returned back to Atlanta, we were still in contact.  I was so happy to hear of his well-earned retirement.  
It turns out that Mark and Ms. Peggy were married the same year as my parents and I was always regarded Mark as a father figure.  He often talked of his children and grandchildren. I will truly miss him - such a gentle soul.  
I am praying for Mark's wife and his entire family that you may all find peace in knowing that you were so loved.
