Marta M Garcia

Marta Martinez Garcia of Victoria, formally of McAllen died Saturday, March 16, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born on October 8, 1945 in McAllen, TX to the late Manuel C. and Ester Torres Martinez.

Mom was the rock of our family. She was selfless and thought about us until the very end. She loved working in her yard, cooking for us all, and watching her grandson Ryan play ball. She adored all of her grandchildren and loved to have them all over at her house. She had been through more in her lifetime than most people should ever have to endure. She didn’t like that we called her strong, she would always just say that God gave her the strength to get through. After her first husband died, she was left to raise 4 children alone and she never let us down. She worked hard and always made sure we had everything we needed. My mother loved us more than anything, we were her world and she was ours. She was our hero. We will miss her terribly but find comfort in knowing she was at peace with Gods will. We know she is now pain free and in heaven dancing huapangos with her daddy.

She is survived by her husband Armando Garcia of Victoria; daughters Marie Missy Bazan (Ray) of Victoria, Nina Segundo (Marcos Garces) of San Antonio, and Mia Garcia Sanchez of Victoria; sons, Rene Segundo (Emerita) of Mission, TX, Ricardo Segundo of Victoria, and Rolando (Maria) Segundo of San Antonio; brother Juan Manuel Martinez of McAllen, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Adriana Segundo El-Farrah, Sonia Segundo, Maria Segundo, America Segundo, Carmen Segundo, Leyla Segundo, Jose Guadalupe Segundo III, Diana Segundo Zapata, Kathryn Segundo Garcia, Cynthia Segundo, Freddy Torres, Wilfredo Torres, Ashley Segundo Venegas, Joshua Segundo, Hanna Segundo, Ryan Bazan and Marcus Bazan. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Kimberly Martinez, Javier Estrada, Argelia Segundo, Jose Daniel Zapata, Daniella Zapata, Angella Zapata, Shawn Alvarez, Jace Alvarez, Jayden Torres, Dylan Torres and baby Garces.

Including her parents, she is preceded in death by the father of her children Jose Guadalupe Segundo Jr., her daughter Maria Teresa Segundo and her son John Michael Segundo. Her sister Diana Martinez Villanueva and brother Heriberto “Eddie” Martinez. Her grandsons Brandon Michael Bazan & Adam Ray Bazan

A visitation for family and friends will be Friday, March 22, 2019 from 5-7 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7 PM.

A Funeral Mass will be Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 2 PM at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral Center with Rev. Gary Janak officiating.

Serving as pallbearers, her grandsons, Ryan Bazan & Joshua Segundo; nephews Ramiro Huerta, Mike Villanueva, Manuel Martinez, Michael Martinez, Ruy Marquez, & Diego Marquez.

Honorary pallbearers are also her grandsons Marcus Bazan & Jose Guadalupe Segundo III

A very special thank you to her granddaughter Kathryn Garcia and her niece Jessica Marquez for all your help during mom’s illness. She loved you both very much. Thank you to Dr. Whitehouse, Hospice of South Texas and their entire staff, you all took such good, loving care of mom during her illness and for that we are eternally grateful. To Dr. Guel, Dr. Sabbagh, and Dr. Hashmi, thank you for always taking such good care of our mother.
