Martha Joe Davis Faykus, 83, of Victoria, passed away October 17, 2013. Martha was born September 2, 1930 in Wolfe City, Texas to the late Joe and Edith Perkinson Davis. Martha graduated from East Texas State University and was an elementary school teacher for many years in Dallas. She was a member of the Tampa Jr. Women’s Club, the Women’s Medical Auxiliary Club of Victoria County and was in the Chi Omega Sorority at North Texas State University. She also was an active member of the Catholic Church.
Martha is survived by her husband, Max Henry Faykus; daughters, Marcia Faykus Emmons of Boulder, CO; Mary Sue Faykus Cullins of Dallas, TX and son, Max Henry Faykus, Jr. of Fayetteville, NC. Martha also leaves behind 8 grandchildren to cherish her memory.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents and sister.
A Rosary will be recited Friday, October 18, 2013 at 7 PM at the Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 11 AM at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Praha, Texas with a graveside service to immediately follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Praha, Texas with Deacon Milburn Cram officiating.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of South Texas Building Fund, 605 E. Locus St, Victoria, Texas 77901.
