

Mary Ann Gillar Hoerig, 77, of Victoria passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 after a courageous fight with cancer. She was born April 5, 1938 in Moulton to the late Ernest and Annie Cinadr Gillar. She was a loving homemaker and wife. She operated a daycare and was nanny to many children. Mary Ann loved to travel, enjoyed playing cards and her gambling trips. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where she was active in the Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters and the quilting group.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, the love of her life, Lester Hoerig of Victoria; daughters, Sandra Alkek of Victoria and Debra Thompson of San Antonio; son, Ronald Hoerig and wife, Kerri of Victoria; grandchildren, Travis and wife, Courtney Alkek, Katy and husband, Chris Ochoa, Morgan Alkek, Amanda and husband, Robert Zamora, Eric Thompson, Ryan and wife, Lauren Hoerig, Kassie Hoerig and Karly Hoerig; great-grandchildren, Dylan and John Ochoa, Caden Zamora and Harper Hoerig.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, George Gillar and Danny Gillar; a granddaughter, Kristina Hoerig; sons-in-law, Lance Alkek and Brad Thompson.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Rev. Jacob Koether officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Hoerig, Chris Ochoa, Robert Zamora, Clarence Wenske, Scot Winkenwerder and Dylan Ochoa.
Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Alkek, Eric Thompson, all granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Hospice of South Texas, Nurse Lisa Stacy, all Hospice nurses and her caregiver, Lupe Camacho.
