

Mary Margaret Morris Haas, 80, of Victoria passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016. She was born February 3, 1936 in Hallettsville to the late Frank J. and Bessie Nevlud Morris. She was employed by Groce Wearden and also served as secretary to the Diocese of Victoria for 16 years. Mary was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for over 60 years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and had served as Eucharistic Minister for over 10 years. Mary was devoted to her family and dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, shopping, listening to music, Sudoku, watching game shows and sports on TV as she sipped her favorite, Dr. Pepper.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Harvey Marvin Haas; son, Michael Haas (Lesie) of San Antonio; daughters, Cindy Dobies (Bill) of Spring, Carol Polak (Stan) of Houston, and Cathy Dierlam (David) of Victoria; sister, Patsy Hanslik of Victoria; brother, Joe Morris (Joyce) of Victoria; grandchildren, Allyson Haas of Dallas, Andrea Alicea (Michael) of San Antonio, Morgan Lane (Brad) of McKinney, Kaley Carbonaro (Jonathan) of Wichita Falls and Christopher Polak of Dayton, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Emily and Harvey Alicea and Ryan Lane.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Monday, June 27, 2016 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels followed by a Rosary at 7 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Stan Polak, Bill Dobies, David Dierlam, Randy Haas, Jay Morris and Edward Nevlud. Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Appelt, Vaclav Netardus and Jorge Armando Diaz, M.D.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Diaz’s staff and the staff at Citizen’s Medical center for the love and care they gave to mom.
