Mary Jo Ledbetter, 89, recently of Victoria, formerly of Sulphur Springs, Texas, passed away February 21, 2022. She was born December 18, 1932, in Winnsboro, Texas to Raymond James and Montine Johnson McLeroy. She earned a master's degree in Education where she dedicated her life’s work in the classroom and within the school administration. Mary Jo was a proud and loyal member of First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs where she volunteered her time as a Sunday school instructor and choir member. She actively participated in TCTA, Retired Teachers' Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma and proudly served as President various times throughout her retirement. Mary Jo’s most valued role would be that as the matriarch of her family. She never missed a moment and was proudly present for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa French, and husband Kenny. As well as her grandchildren, Kelly French Hodge, Kenneth French Jr., Kristy Kirkland, and Autumn French; great-grandchildren: Laken, Everett, and Grady French, and Caroline, Ava, and Kennedy Kirkland. Along with her constant companion, Daisy.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ruby Placker, Patty Schroeder, and brother, James McLeroy.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 25, 2022 from 10-10:30 a.m. followed by funeral services at 10:30 a.m. at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens of Victoria.
Pallbearers are Kenneth French Jr., Thomas Smith, Sebie Kirkland, and Alan Hodge.
