Max Gerald Martin of Victoria, TX, passed away peacefully on Wednesday the 14th of August, 2024. He was 87 years of age. Max was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma to June Rose Todd (Blackerby) and Kay Oscar Martin.
Max spent his childhood growing up in Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Wichita Falls, Texas, until he set his roots down in Victoria where he and his wife Rose owned and operated The Martinique Beauty Salon for over 45 years.
He was a member of Central Church of Christ for over 50 years where he served as a deacon, youth leader, and Bible Bowl Coordinator. He loved God and read his Bible daily. In his words, “I want each and every one of you to be a Godly person, to love God and seek Him and His ways all the days of your life.”
Max is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rose Dick Martin; his daughter, Leslee Graham; his son, Todd Martin, his daughter-in-law, Dana; and his brother, Marty Martin.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Trevor Graham (Rachel), Conner Graham (Sharon), Allyson Graham Parker (Brady), Carys Martin Pate (Talbert), Parker Martin, Carson Martin, and four great grandchildren.
Max was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Kay Elgin.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from one o’clock until two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 24th of August, at Central Church of Christ, 801 E. Airline, Victoria, TX. A Celebration of Max’s Life is to be conducted at two o’clock. Prior to the service the family will have gathered for a private graveside service in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Mercy House Memory Care for looking after Max as if he was their own dad or Popo.
