Melvin was born on October 1, 1940, in Runge, TX, to the late Hilda Kruse and William Bluhm.
He served his country in the United States Army from 1963 to 1969. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Melvin married the love of his life on October 7, 1966, and they celebrated 58 years of marriage. He retired from DuPont in 1998 after a 32-year career of dedicated service.
He loved attending all his grandchildren's events and was one of their biggest supporters! He also loved spending time with his great-grandchildren! He loved going to the casino whenever possible and always enjoyed playing dominoes with his friends. He looked forward to going to eat supper with friends from First English Lutheran church every Tuesday!
He is survived by his wife, Diana Rose Hoffer Bluhm; children, Lona Hall (Darrell Smith) of Victoria, Douglas Bluhm (Sherri) of Victoria; grandchildren, Mason Hall, Kaley Shilinga (Spencer), Holland Bluhm, Presley Bluhm; great-grandchildren, Easton Hall, Branson Hall; and one brother, Hilbert Bluhm (Anselmo) of San Antonio.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Milton Bluhm and Gene Bluhm.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 AM. Burial with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will immediately follow at Crescent Valley Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Darrell Smith, Mason Hall, Spencer Shilinga, Jason Hoffer, David Gisler, and Robert Hall.
Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or the Donor’s Choice.
