Mervita Rebugio Balangue, 81, of Victoria, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026. She was born in the municipality of Laoac, Province of Pangasinan in the Philippines; to Vicente Rebugio Sr. and Maria Juana Tabangcura Rebugio on February 21, 1945. She married the love of her life Samuel C. Balangue, Sr., and to this union two children were born. Mervita was an Elementary School Teacher; specializing in Home Economics in the Philippines for more than 30 years before migrating to the US, and a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents; Vicente Sr. and Maria Juana, Mervita is preceded in death by her husband Samuel C. Balangue, Sr., two brothers, Reynaldo Rebugio, and Bienvenido Rebugio, and a sister-in-law, Virginia Rebugio.
Mervita is survived by her daughter, Grace May Balangue Cuison and her husband Joey; son, Samuel “Sam” Balangue, Jr. and his wife Lhea; sister, Vilma Rebugio Rutab and her husband Hardie Sr., brothers : Efren Rebugio Sr., and his wife Corazon, and Vicente Rebugio, Jr.. She also leaves to cherish her memory, four grandchildren; Jacynth, Jayden, Enzo, and Szymon; and numerous extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 1-1:30 pm, followed by reciting of the Rosary at 1:30 pm, and Funeral Service at 2 pm, all at Colonial Funeral Home.
