

Mildred M Lewis, 86, of Victoria passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 6-8 PM at the Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be 11 AM on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Oakhill Cemetery in Goliad, TX with Rev. Stephen Estrem officiating.
Mildred was born July 31, 1926 in Placid, TX to Milton & Mamie Baker. She attended school in Fannin and was a graduate of Jasper High School. She worked for the telephone company in Jasper and later returned to Goliad to become a bookkeeper for the Lewis Chevrolet Co. where she met and married her husband, James W. Lewis.
During her lifetime she worked at many jobs, she was a Victoria Adult Literacy Council Volunteer, worked at Melvin’s Tots to Teens for many years and along with her love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she enjoyed the many family gatherings.
Mildred was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church and attended church regularly until her health failed. She was a devoted Christian that loved God, her family life and friends. Painting and singing was a passion throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis; her parents; two brothers, John and Lewis Baker; two sisters, Leona Bego and Jackie Parker.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Anderson and husband, Ed, Lisa Lewis; two sons, James Lewis, Stephen Lewis and wife, Becky; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren, all so important to her; and one brother, Harvey Baker.
