

Mildred Stirl Metting, 86, of Victoria passed away February 19, 2016. She was born February 3, 1930 in Nordheim, TX to Oscar and Leona Schlosser Stirl. She married Norris L. Metting on February 8, 1948.
Mildred was a member of First English Lutheran Church. She was baptized in St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Nordheim on May 4, 1930 by T.J. Roth. Confirmed in Nordheim on July 23, 1944 by M. Heinrich.
She was Sunday School Teacher and member of the church choir for many years. Once a month the ladies in the “Ruth Circle” would go to Twin Pines Nursing Home where she would play the organ for a sing along. She did this for nearly 50 years. Also while her mother was at the VNRC she would have a sing along every Friday afternoon.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Metting (Marilyn) of Houston, Jim Metting (Claudia) of Sugar Land, David Metting (Robin) of Victoria; sister, Florine Charles of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Darlene Williams of Victoria; grandchildren, Michael Metting of Houston, Bryan Metting (Dana) of Sugar Land, Julie Ewing (Blake) of Round Rock, Stacey Lynn of Houston, Brett Glass (Will) of Houston; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Adam Metting, Morgan and Beren Ewing and Genevieve Glass and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 22, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 10 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church with Pastor Jim Pearson officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens of Victoria.
