Nancy Josephine (DeLire) Lovel, 72, of Victoria, went to her heavenly home while surrounded in prayer by her “Victoria Hyde Family” and her caretaker, Pam. She died on June 19, 2025 while a patient at DeTar Hospital. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 22, 1952 to Donald and Hilda DeLire. She spent a happy childhood with her three sisters on the east side of San Antonio and attended St. Gerard School and St. Benedict School. In 1966 the family moved to Victoria where Nancy graduated from Nazareth Academy in 1970. She married Robert Lovel in 1972 and worked for many years as a LVN at Twin Pines Nursing Home until the birth of her daughter, Elizabeth. Nancy cherished her role as a dedicated mother to Elizabeth who had cerebral palsy. In 1981, Nancy became a quadriplegic after a tragic fall. She was blessed to have caretakers devoted to her well-being and that of Elizabeth’s. Nancy enjoyed the peace and quiet of her rural surroundings near Mission Valley and watched the sunsets while saying her rosary in the evenings.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Elizabeth in 2015, and her former husband Robert. She is survived by sisters Donna DeLire, Sharon Mortellra, and Rosemary Talbot (Brian) and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to thank her former caretaker Warnie Hyde who was with Nancy for 21 years. She and her daughter Laura came to Nancy’s aid so very often when needed.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. James Catholic Church in Seguin, Texas; burial will take place at Lone Oak Cemetery in Geronimo, Texas following the service.
