Oleomar “Popo” Barraza went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2019, at the age of 71. He was born, September 26, 1947, in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Juan Barraza and Francisca Villarreal. In 1967, he joined the Armed Forces and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War.

Oleo is survived by his son, Ernest Cano; brothers and sisters, Joe Barraza, John Barraza, Lucia Guerra, Patricia Garcia, and Diana Garcia. Popo will forever be remembered by his grandchildren, Silina Hernandez, Kaylee Cano, Victoria Cano, Savannah Cano; great-grandchildren, Adriel Hernandez and Audisella Hernandez.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eliazar Barraza, Raymond Barraza, Baldemar Barraza; and sisters, Juanita Valenzuela and Rosalinda Barraza.

A Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm on Sunday, January 13, 2019 followed with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, with Father Jacob Koether officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery with full military service under the auspice of Victoria County Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, EX-POW, MOPH, WS, KWV, VVA.

Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Guerra, Chris Barraza, Daniel Barraza, Mesindo Salazar Jr., Jesus Garcia, and Kevin McRae. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Barraza, Miguel Salazar and Herbert Garner.
