Patsy Hood Parks passed away on the morning of Monday, December 23, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. She was born to Walter and Verda Hood on May 21, 1936, in Woodbury, Tennessee. She was the eldest of three girls. She spent time working at a cafe owned by family and played a little basketball in high school. She graduated from Woodbury Central High School in May of 1954.
She met Thomas “Tex” Parks when he was stationed at Short Mountain, Tennessee. She and Tex were married on December 17, 1954. They then moved to Victoria, Texas, where they lived for many years. They had three children- Tommy, Kelly, and Libby. They spent many years in little leagues, football booster clubs, scout trips, and all manner of things their children were involved in. They went back to Tennessee twice a year- during the summer and for Christmas. She worked in Dr. Allen’s office for 40 years. After they retired, they traveled extensively, visiting almost every state in the United States. They also, enjoyed gambling, and they made many trips to Vegas. She and her friends started a bridge club that played every week. She spent many years taking care of Tex after his stroke. She took care of him until he died in December of 2009. She was such a reserved lady that her grandchildren thought her to be prim and proper while she thought them to be “common”. She was kind to all who met her. She was a very patient lady, who would sit for hours, watching her grandchildren play at the park or McDonald’s Play Place. She liked to read until her eyes wouldn’t let her anymore. She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many people. She will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tex Parks; and her daughter, Libby Bludau. She is survived by her sisters - Jane Lester of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Helon Bush and husband, Maurice of Woodbury, Tennessee; her sons - Tommy Parks and wife, Debbie of Sugarland, Texas and Kelly Parks and wife, Audrey of Victoria; Son-In-Law, Ronnie Bludau of Hallettsville. She is also survived by her six grandchildren - Marisa Parks and Spencer Parks of Sugarland, Kelsey Parks and Korey Parks of Victoria, and Callie Bludau and Addie Bludau of Hallettsville, Texas.
Graveside services will be held Monday, December 30, 2024 at 10AM at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
