Raymond “R.D.” Dalton, 83, of Victoria, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025, in Victoria. He was born in Fredericksburg, Indiana to William “Bill” and Birdie Lofton Dalton on September 30, 1941. R.D. was married to the one true love of his life, Patsy York Dalton, and together they shared many wonderful years.
R.D. was a Constable for Precinct 3 in Victoria County for three terms, starting in 1992 retiring in July 2003. He was active with several area feed stores and ranches throughout his life. He was a dealer for Westway Converter (liquid molasses) and worked out of Victoria Farm and Ranch Supply. He was a Rep for Producers Video Auction; he was the first person to start a partnership with Huntsville Prison doing live video cattle auctions of over 10,000 head of cattle. He was a Brand Inspector for the Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association where he worked with several area Auction Barns.
He graduated from Goliad High School , and during his time there was a football player; and a calf roper, bull rider and bareback rider. He loved to rodeo.
R.D. was a Methodist, an avid fisherman, and hunter, he enjoyed fishing in Port O’Connor or anywhere he could get to; as well as his hunting trips with friends in New Mexico and Colorado. He enjoyed going to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas with Patsy and friends.
In addition to his wife Patsy, R.D. is survived by daughters: Dana Horine and her husband Ralph and Holly Hoffman and her husband Ray; four grandchildren: Jennifer Stevenson and husband J.B., Jessica Medziuch and husband Michael, Laura Hoffman, and Mark Hoffman; three great grandchildren: Peyton, Dalton, and Marshal; and numerous extended family and friends, all of whom will cherish his memory.
R.D. is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 5-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to New Century Hospice, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
