

Richard Lee Heintz, age 75, passed away on February 15, 2011 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born on January 8, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland, to Leo Heintz and Harriet Ann Heintz.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann Janca and Steve Janca, of Victoria, brothers Paul Heintz (Jane) of Philadelphia, Pa., Frank Heintz (June), of Baltimore, Md., stepbrother Dr. Ronald Gooding (Mary Ann) of Lincoln, NE; sisters Mary Allyn Lindsay (David) of Lynchburg, VA, and Anne Heintz of Weaverville, NC. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Steven Janca of Austin and Lauren Janca of College Station.
He was baptized and confirmed in Christ Episcopal Church in San Antonio, Texas.
He attended high school at Wentworth Academy in Lexington, Missouri. He played football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and tennis, with the exception of his junior year in high school where he studied in Paris, France. He attended Trinity University in San Antonio and THE University of Texas where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He was employed by Hartford Insurance Company and American General Insurance Company in Houston, Texas, as a claim representative and then entered law school at South Texas College of Law in Houston where he received his Juris Doctorate Degree.
After passing the Texas State Bar Exam he received a direct commission as a Captain in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps (JAG). He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving with II Field Forces and the 199th Infantry Brigade. He was awardischarge from active duty he entered the civil practice of law, maintaining offices both in Goliad with then State Representative Tim Von Dohlen as well as in Victoria. He later became a partner in the Victoria law firm of Woody, Gumm, Heintz, Villafranca, Villafranca and Ricker where his specialization was personal injury and workers' compensation litigation. He retired from the practice of law in December, 1996.
He was President of Downtown Kiwanis – Victoria; a member and officer of Vietnam Veterans of America; Texas Trial Lawyers Association; State Bar of Texas; Rotary Club of Goliad; and Past President of the Goliad Chamber of Commerce. He also appeared in numerous plays with the Goliad Theatre and Victoria Community Theatre.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel, Rev. Larry Green officiating.
