Toni was born on March 30, 1941 in San Antonio, TX to Anthony Charles and Rita Marie Meyer.
Toni is lovingly remembered and survived by her son John Charles “Johnny” Reckaway and wife Jennifer; granddaughter Stacy L. Reckaway ; great grandchildren Colbey, McKenzie, Jayden, McKayla and Savannah and great great granddaughter Alora. On May 28, 1986 Toni was blessed to marry John William Wyer (J.W.) and gain another son and daughter in this union, Jerral Wyer (Amy) and Cherie Wyer Brzozowski (Patrick). Toni also leaves behind her four-legged companion, Benji.
Toni is also survived by her sisters Carolyn Agnes Costanza, Peggy Larson; sister-in-law Donna Meyer and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Toni was preceded in death by her brother David Henry Meyer and brother-in-law Carl Larsen.
Toni received her accounting degree from University of Houston Victoria, ultimately earning her CPA after serving as Jackson County Treasurer. In 2009 Toni retired from University of Houston Victoria as Comptroller.
Outside of work, in addition to dancing with J. W., Toni volunteered with the Jackson County Youth Rodeo Association and Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna and spent time enjoying their country place in Morales, TX.
Toni and JW were avid county and western dancers and enjoyed 40 years of dancing in Fredericksburg, Texas with their family and close circle of friends. They were often admired for their unique style of dance in syncopated time and for “Miss Toni’s red high heels”.
Toni will always be remembered for her grit and her grace.
The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Kurtis Krueger, Dr. Ceasar Maldando, Dr. Kabani, Dr. Armando Diaz, Harbor Hospice as well as the outstanding staff at Jackson County Hospital for their loving care and clinical expertise.
The family is also deeply grateful for Rachel Falcon, Ester Castillo, Molly Riojas, Kristi Bednarz, Romanita Vidal and Vivian Graves for their compassionate care and friendship. They will always be remembered with heartfelt appreciation.
A service will be held on Friday July 10, 2026 at 10 AM at the pavilion at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Edna.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude for those who desire, memorial contributions be made to The Food Bank of the Golden Crescent(I will list address when I have the correct po box) and/or Harbor Hospice, 5606 N Navarro St #209, Victoria, TX 77904.
