Robert Lawrence “Bob” Coffey, 85, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026 from 4-6pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A rosary will be prayed at 6pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 10am at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral, with entombment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery at 2pm.
Bob was born October 20, 1940 in Victoria, Texas to the late Lawrence and Isetta Marie Hadley Coffey. He was a member of the first graduating class from Victoria High School in 1958. He attended Victoria College and graduated University of Texas at Austin in 1962 before serving overseas in the U.S. Army. Following his tour with the Army, Bob returned to Victoria and met the love of his life, Mary Patricia Finn, marrying her on May 20, 1967. He became a certified public accountant and maintained his license for over 50 years. Bob was also an avid golfer winning the 1958 Victoria City Championship. He was also Life Master bridge player, even teaching many how to play the game. He gave much of his time to various organizations in Victoria, including The Lions Club, Christ's Kitchen, the Society of Saint Vincent DePaul, the Crossroads Foundation, and Theatre Victoria.
He is survived by his wife; son, David Coffey (Annie); daughter, Mary Anne Whiteley; and his grandchildren, Sarah Aleshire (Vick), Julia Whiteley, Mariah Martindale (Jon), Cecilia Ruth Coffey, James Finn Coffey, and Joseph Stephen Coffey.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Isetta Coffey, son, Joseph Stephen Coffey, and sisters, Beverly Janice Griggs (Derrell) and Sandra Ryan (Jerry).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gabriel Project of the Crossroads.
