

Robert Gee “Bob” Skeete, 80, of Victoria passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016. He was born in Palestine, TX on February 11, 1936 to Taylor Campbell Skeete and Mary Alice Gee Skeete. He grew up in the community of Bethel, and Tennessee Colony in Texas close to the Trinity River bottom which he loved. There he spent a lot of his time hunting for squirrels, doves and any game in season. Bob put in large amounts of time working cattle with his uncle and long time friend Dick Jones on their land.
He graduated from Cauyga High School in 1954. In High School he had the privilege of playing Baseball, along with participating in Basketball on two state championship teams. He graduated from Kilgore College where he played basketball. Following college Bob took up employment in the Oil Field in West Texas, and then moved to work with Dow chemical for two years in Lake Jackson.
He soon met his beloved wife Dee in Weimar, Texas. After marrying, Bob served in the US Army for two years in Germany. This gave the young couple the opportunity to reside there as well as travel through seven countries. After serving, Bob took up residency in Victoria to work for DuPont in 1961 for 20 years as a lab analyst. Following his retirement from DuPont, Robert purchased The Art Gallery and owned the business for 17 years.
Bob, was a 50 Yr. member and a past Worshipful Master of the Victoria Lodge No.40.,a member of Al Amin Shrine Temple, Past President of Victoria Shrine Club, member of The First United Methodist Church for 55 years, as well as a member of the local Police Civilian Academy. He enjoyed going dancing, playing Golf, Hunting, and time with his Grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife, Dee of 58 years; son, Jed Skeete and wife, Monica of Houston and daughter, Deborah Skeete of Victoria. Along with five grandchildren, Cade and Shelby Skeete of Houston, Andrea Roberts Richard and husband, Luke of Richmond, TX, Bryanna and Colin Soderholtz of Victoria; brother, Taylor Skeete and wife, Tamara of Pearland, and his beloved dog Shotsie. There are many other family members and friends whom he enjoyed spending time or traveling with.
Visitation will be held at Rosewood Funeral Home, Monday, May 2, 2016 from 6-8 PM.
A Private Burial Service will take place at Memory Gardens. A Memorial Service will follow at First United Methodist Church at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, May 3, 2016.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Twice Blessed Out Reach Ministries, Shiners’ Crippled Children Hospital, and Hospice of South Texas or donors’ choice.
Pallbearers will be Mark Harmon, Russell Baumbach, Brad Beken, Harold Farris, Joe King, Cliff Denton, Al Koehn and Donnie Dittrich.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Brazil, Robert Tripson, Ken Ballard and John Kunchandy.
