Roger was born in Victoria to Daniel F. Garcia and Julia Perez on October 1, 1970. He was a proud 1990 graduate of Stroman High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Sheila M. Cuellar, on October 7, 1995, at Our Lady of Sorrows.
Roger began working at an early age to support his little family. He was a hardworking, devoted man who wasn’t afraid to do anything for his family. He worked in the parts and used car departments at Atzenhoffer Chevrolet for 26 years, where he made lifelong friends. More recently, Roger had just completed his fourth year at Glazer’s Beer & Beverage as a sales representative. Even though his drive to work was long some days, the work was challenging but very rewarding.
Roger’s sense of humor, his jokes, and his funny demeanor will be missed by all who knew him. It was always a great time when he was around. He made everyone feel welcome in his home. Roger enjoyed watching sports, including his favorite teams, the Atlanta Braves and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a wonderful master of the grill, and his BBQ chicken, ribs, pork chops, and pulled pork will be missed. He loved being outdoors, drinking some Miller Lites, and showing Jaxon, Autumn, and Olivia how to do things around the house. But most of all, he loved his new granddaughter, Charlotte Kate. She turned his world upside down and had him doing the very things he said he wouldn’t do.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Garcia; father-in-law, Gregorio Cuellar Jr.; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles, and other family members.
Roger is survived by the love of his life, Sheila; sons, Jordan and Joshua (Stormie); bonus daughter, Xena Ruiz; brothers, Alex (Gloria), Ernie (JoAnn), Steve, Ruben (Robin), and Joe Danny (Sandra); mother, Julia Garcia; grandchildren, Jaxon, Autumn, Olivia, Charlotte Kate, and Ramona Cuellar; his mother-in-law; nieces; nephews; and his extended family.
The visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, with the rosary to follow at Rosewood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Our Lady of Sorrows, with Fr. Joseph Blackburn officiating.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Cuellar, Pete Garza, Frank Flores, Mark Figueroa, Jeffrey Perez, Cheno Poncio, Mark Olguin, and Jerry Vasquez.
Honorary pallbearers will be his special godchildren: Erika Garcia, Gabriella “Gabi” Gomez, Kayla Flores, Kaylee Nuells, Mark Olguin, Kaden Sevier, and Jacob Vasquez.
The family of Roger Garcia wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Monisha Singh, Dr. Khiem Vu, the entire 4th Floor staff at the Dunn Tower of Houston Methodist Hospital, and his personal nurses who cared so deeply for him: Liz Chapa, Nina Dawson, Ruben Garcia, Gabriella “Gabi” Gomez, Maribel Gomez, and Xena Ruiz.
