Ruby Lee White Sellers was born in Saltillo, Tennessee on November 1, 1925 as a twin to her brother, James E. White. Her parents, James Frank White and Cella Mamie Meadows White moved to Texas sometime thereafter, and she was raised in Sweeny and the Old Ocean area. She married Roy C. Sellers in 1942 in Bay City, where she raised her two sons. She entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 in Victoria, Texas. Ruby Sellers loved her extended family. They would love her Chicken and Dumplings, hand rolling them out! Her Pot Roast and Fried Shrimp…her pies and cakes were magical and tasted oh so good. Her summer and winter gardens were always filled with tomatoes, peppers, corn, okra, and many others. She would can and freeze them all and gave many to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Sellers; her granddaughter, Tracy Sellers Wilson; her twin brother, James E. White; her parents and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Ryman Sellers. She is survived by her sons, B.W. ‘Butch’ Sellers of Victoria; Clarence and Dorothy Sellers of Brazoria; brother, James Frank White, Jr. of Houston; sister-in-law, Della White of Bay City; grandchildren, Stephanie Sellers Ketchum of Dickinson, Michael and Yvonne Sellers of Humble, Roy Sellers of Brazoria, Keith and Shelley Sellers of Amarillo; great grandchildren, Johnathan Ketchum of Brazoria, Samantha Nielsen of Dickinson, Sara and Teresa Sellers of Houston, Joshua Sellers of Humble, Cody Sellers of South Houston, Dasen and Kaden Sellers of Amarillo; one special great-great granddaughter, Jaycee Joy Blair of Dickinson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Sellers was an active and long term member of the Victoria County Extension Education Association and served many years as the Chairman for their Annual Pecan and Peanut Fundraiser. She was also long term Treasurer for The Raisin-Coletoville Club. If you have ever bought Pecans or Peanuts from the Extension Club you probably know Ruby Sellers. For many years she has served as a Judge for local FFA and FHA Cooking Competitions. She was passionate about the local Women’s Crisis Center and she hand crocheted and donated many items that they would sell in their store. The family would like to thank Dr. John Soule, her long time physician; the nurses at Citizens Medical Center, especially those on the 6th Floor SNF Unit; the staff at Twin Pines North; and Hospice of South Texas.
