Ruby (Bitterly) Schrade, 98, of Victoria, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 1, 2022. Ruby was born March 5, 1923, to the late Ludwig and Helen (Lau) Bitterly in Meyersville, Texas. Ruby was the oldest member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and attended every Sunday for as long as she was able. She married Melvin B. Schrade on June 4, 1944, and they had 6 children. She was a homemaker, loving mother, and grandmother. Ruby is survived by her four sons, Glen Schrade (Chris), Donald Schrade (Sue), Randy Schrade (Valarie), Michael Schrade; and two daughters, Janice Urban (John) and Margaret Dentler (David). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and her dog Kai. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Dusty Schrade, daughter-in-law Gwen Schrade, sister Lillian Mayer and brothers Warren Bitterly and Louis Bitterly.
Ruby loved family gatherings and listening to country and western music was a joy of hers but listening to her sons and grandsons play for her was her favorite. She was always ready to travel, but her most favorite destination was Nashville, Tennessee going to the Grand Ole Opry. She also enjoyed sitting outside and watching the moon come up in the evenings. She loved children and babysat many over the years; loving them all, as if they were her own.
Ruby will be truly missed for her love, sweet smile, hugs, kisses and cookies and will be in our hearts forever.
