I’m so, so sorry to hear of Sherman’s passing. He was one of my favorite human beings and he had an unbelievable impact on me. I always enjoyed running into him at the mall and talking with him and his sweet wife. 

I met John when I worked at Kroger when I was 16 and we became friends and then I was lucky enough to work with his dad at UHV, which were some of the best days of my life. The talks Sherman and I had as we traveled from place to place all over the campus are a treasure to me. 

I wish I’d had a chance to share a meal one more time and just spend some time with a man who was such an influential person to me.  I think of him often, as I always have, and now that I’ve sadly learned that he has passed away, I’ll think of him even more often. Prayers and love to his sweet family. 

Dahlia  - I would like to extend to you my sincere condolences of Sherman's passing.  When I saw it in the newspaper I felt sadness but then I kept reading and began to feel that this man had a truly remarkable life and I felt a smile coming on.  When I was around Sherman at UHV I saw a person who was humble, easy going, a good family man that held strong religious beliefs, and one that loved you very much.  It is my hope that this message will bring you some comfort to read the honorable traits your husband held.  I must admit that I try to follow his example in how I go through live today.  May your treasurable memories of Sherman be with you .

Mrs. Dahlia, Linda asked me to share her condolences to you and your family. She was scheduled for surgery yesterday, but it was postponed because her blood sugar was too high. You would be happy to know she and Dean qualified for a new home after Harvey destroyed their old mobile home. She also asked  me to be sure to tell you how much she loved being in your CBS core group. Many in our class were first timers, and claim always you  are/were the best! Prayers for you as you grieve, and celebrate Sherman’s life Eternal. 

Sherman was a fellow employee at UHV and I will always remember his smile.  My condolences to his family.  Rest in peace Sherman!

My sincere condolences to Mrs.  Dahlia and her entire family.  I had the great pleasure of meeting, knowing and teaching Mr. Sherman and Mrs. Dahlia at Brookdale Senior Living. I am their exercise instructor and I was always happy to see Mr. Sherman when he would make it to class. However, he would rather stay in the bed and sleep then to go to class, but he always lite up with a smile when he saw me.  I will miss seeing him in class and I will miss his calm spirit.  I PRAY GOD WILL KEEP Mrs. Dahlia in Perfect Peace and give comfort to the entire Poore family.

My condolences to my Aunt Dahlia and my cousins Sherman, John and Mark. May GOD keep you and may you hold to GOD’s hand at this time of grief and struggle that is upon you. I will miss Uncle Sherman too he was a calm presence between six siblings not loud not soft but a calming presence.  I always would think of him around my mom’s birthday because they were a year apart but born on the same day.  You didn’t lose you husband or dad he just passed into a greater life that we are all  striving for. Love you all and GOD BLESS!!!

Dear Sweet Dahlia and family,  I noticed Sherman’s obituary in today’s paper and wanted to send condolences. I know you to be of strong Christian Faith and this allows you to “be of good cheer for Sherman for this is a transition to eternal bliss.”  We all miss our loved ones, but the Lord promises we will be together  again someday for eternity is comforting. Sherman was such a blessing to me when we worked at UHV. He lived out his Christian life testimony daily and always had a smile and a kind word. My prayers and condolences to you all.

I had the pleasure of knowing Sherman when he worked at the University of Houston-Victoria.  Everyone loved Sherman.  He was  always kind to everyone, and always wanted to help in any way he could.    Heaven has received a special angel.  

So sorry for your loss, but Sherman’s promotion is Heaven’s gain.  Will always remember his quiet, calm disposition and his love of Jesus. Praying for the family, Much love for you Dahlia

Rest in eternal bliss Mr. Poore and have a front row seat right next to Jesus as you start your reward. Mr Poore was a blessing to my wife and I. Always with a smile on his face and a welcoming hug when he saw us. Mr. Sherman Porre was and still is a breath of fresh air to us.  I hope he finds my Dad, they will enjoy each other so much . Love and much respect to you Mrs. Dahlia, may God comfort you and bless you.

Mr. Poore was such a wonderful man. He was the kindest man I've ever known. He always had a way of making you laugh with his wonderful sense of humor. His loving spirit always made you feel comfortable and secure in his presence. He will always have a place in my heart.
