

Simon B. Villarreal, 82, of Victoria passed away on Monday, November 27, 2012. He was born October 20, 1930 in Edroy, Texas to the late Monico Martinez and Dominga Benavides Villarreal. Mr. Villarreal retired from Alcoa in 1983 after thirty-one years, he served our country in the US Army for four years and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Simon was very dedicated to his faith, serving as a Eucharistic Minister for 25 years at Our Lady of Sorrows and St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a member of the Core Group Prayer Meeting at the Mother House, Shut –In Ministries and Hospital Ministries.
Survivors include his wife of 78 years, Fela Zamarripa Villarreal; daughter, Estella Padilla of Victoria; sons, Simon D. Villarreal of Austin, Ernest Villarreal of Victoria, John Villarreal of Victoria; sisters, Dora Garcia and Janie Guerrero; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Villarreal is preceded in death by a brother, Monico B. Villarreal and sisters, Delores Diamond and Georgia Orton.
The family will receive friends at Rosewood Funeral Chapel on Friday, November 30, 2012 from 6-7 PM with a rosary to be recited at 7 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 AM on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Graveside services with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Simon D. Villarreal, Ernest Villarreal, John Villarreal, Joe Louis Padilla, Marc Solis, Aaron Longoria and John Solis.
