Thomas Earl Marchbanks IV passed from life Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at the age of thirty in his home in Lewisville, Texas. Thomas was born to Thomas Earl and Jan Ellen Musselman Marchbanks on October 3, 1979, in Victoria, Texas. He attended and subsequently graduated from Victoria High School where he played football as a defensive tackle, ultimately being honored by the district and region for his performance and earning the distinction of playing in a Texas all-star game.
Growing up Thomas liked to zoom around the neighborhood on his Explorer (for the uninitiated, that’s basically a small fire engine propelled with your feet, Flintstones style) wearing his red fireman’s hat. That same hat also had a siren which mysteriously (and permanently) lost its batteries shortly after its purchase.
Thomas had a passion for sports, particularly football, never missing a Dallas Cowboys or Baylor Bears game. He was taking classes and working for UPS at the time of his death, with a mind to move back to Victoria very soon. He was very passionate about the country and family ranch and was looking forward to moving home soon to work in the south Texas sun once again.
Thomas was preceded in death by grandparents George Musselman, Josephine Boothe Musselman, General Thomas Marchbanks Jr., and Sue Herrick Wood. He is survived and will be sorely missed by his parents Jan and Tom Marchbanks III and his brothers McLane and William Marchbanks. He is also survived by aunts and uncles JoLynne Meador, Jess and Joyce Mayfield, John and Jeanie Kirkwood, Jack and Kathleen Musselman, Jamie and Terrie Musselman and Edward and Nancy Steves and numerous cousins.
Thomas was known for being a genuine and caring person. He wore his heart on his sleeve and if he didn’t agree with you, he would be the first to let you know. He would go to any length to help a friend, and even further for his family. As a son and brother he was loyal, loving, and protective, ready to do whatever it took to keep his family happy and safe
Services for Thomas will be held Wednesday May 12, 2010 at 2 PM at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Katherine Morton, Robert McKay and Rev. Jim Shamburger officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
