

Tommy was a member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church in Bloomington. He retired from Amerada Hess after working in the oilfield for over 40 years. His family was very special to him, and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marie Whitfield Gideon; daughters, Tammy McGee and husband Jeff of Houston and Darlene Blanton and husband Dan of Bloomington; son, Dale E. Gideon of Huntsville; sister, Florine Foster and husband Hiram of Montgomery; brother, Curtis Gideon and wife Mildred of Conroe; five grandchildren, Jason Blanton, Johnathan Blanton, Michael McGee and wife Adrianne, Timothy McGee, and April McGee; great grandchildren, Alana and Dustin Blanton, and Gavin and Ava Blanton; and brother-in-laws, Darrell Whitfield and wife Connie of Bloomington and Floyd Wayne Whitfield and wife Nancy of Corpus Christi.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mildred Foster.
Visitation will be held 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am Monday, April 16, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Bloomington, with the Dr. Rev. Gary Bowman and Rev. Jeff McGee officiating. Burial will follow at Crescent Valley Cemetery. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include his fellow Deacons at the First Baptist Church.
