

Vera Mae Foster Sparks of Victoria was called to be with her Lord on May 1, 2017. She was the 5th child born to Rufus L. and Ocie Foster. She was born on January 11, 1932. She attended Nazareth Academy. She met the love of her life Allen ‘Leroy’ Sparks Sr. and they were married January 17, 1948. They were married 69 years.
She is survived by sons, Allen Sparks Jr. and Ricky Sparks (Roxanna); five grandchildren, Britton Sparks, Cody Sparks, Cassie Sparks Reynolds (Reid), Magen Sparks and Abby Sparks Gloris (Eric); one great grandchild, Loretta Reynolds, the apple of her eye; a son by choice, Kyle Daniels (Becky); sisters, Betty Anderson (David), Patsy Sumbera (Leroy); and a sister by choice, Merle Sparks; many dear nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister.
Vera was active in the Port Lavaca art guild for many years and was chairman of the Arts & Craft Festival for 18 years. She was a charter member of the Calhoun County Quilt guild. A friend introduced her to Brazilian Embroidery, so she combined her quilting with Brazilian embroidery. She leaves behind many pieces of her quilting & art work to her children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Graveside services will be at 10 am Friday, May 5, 2017 at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Mickey Ewing officiating.
Memorials in Vera's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
