

Virginia Lee Kohutek, a resident of Victoria for 49 years, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the age 95. She was born in Ranger, Texas, the 3rd daughter of Herman T. McDonald and Mary Calley Colwell McDonald. She married Alphonse R. Kohutek from Nursery in Laredo on April 25, 1941.
She is survived by her only child, Mary Jo Morris (Jo Morris); grandson, Steven M. Morris and wife, Karen of Peoria, IL; 5 great-grandchildren: twins, Ian Scott and Jordan Elise, Shannen Olivia, Ethan Elliot and Nathan Morris. She is also survived by nephew, Bud Stone; great-nieces and nephew, Kimberlee Johnson, Jonathan O’Bryant, Cynthia Hellmondollar and Denise Harper as well as many nieces and nephews on the Kohutek side of the family.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Al Kohutek in 1993; 3 sisters: Pauline Fenwick, Margaret Marie Burris and twin sister, Dorothy Thompson; grandson, Timothy Daniel Morris; and great-granddaughter, Meagan Morris.
Virginia was a full time homemaker before moving to Victoria in 1967. She retired from Victoria High School in 1988 after serving as Bookkeeper for 21 years. She was also a member of the Victoria Retired Teachers Association.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10 am on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Holy Family Church. A private family burial service will be held at 1:30 at Resurrection Cemetery.
The pall bearers are Wayne Dierlam, Ronny Morris, Steven M. Morris, Michael Kohutek, Allen Kohutek, and Jack Kohutek.
I would also like send a special word of gratitude to ALL the wonderful friends, family, and in home Caregivers that so lovingly took care of my mom this past 6 years, all of the 6th floor skilled nursing staff of Citizens Hospital, and the loving care from all the staff of Brightwater Senior Living Center this past year.
I would also like to thank all of my close friends from Victoria, Austin, Houston and TCEQ that watched over me and ministered their love to me when I was getting weary and tired. The blessings of family and all my close friends were so often “The Wind Beneath My Wings” when they sensed I needed their love and strength.
