Vivian Lee “BeBe” Cardwell Bone was born in Ganado on November 27th, 1949, to W.A. Bill Cardwell and Mary Lou Moore Cardwell. Big sister Sharyl welcomed Vivian home on Brown Street in Edna, Texas. Sharyl loved her little “bebe” sister- and the name stuck. Bebe went to school in Edna and graduated from Edna High School in 1969. Her first job in high school was at Carol Ann’s dress shop where she sold “fancy” ladies fashion. After high school she worked several jobs over the years including working as a bank teller for Victoria Bank and Trust, and a teller at First Bank of Edna, as well as a bookkeeper for Edna Rice Elevators. In 1979 she went to work as the bookkeeper at Hermes and Steffek Fertilizer in Edna and worked there for over 40 years until she retired. She loved working all of her jobs, but the one she loved the most was at Hermes and Steffek. The Hermes and Steffek families and the other employees there were family to her family. She really missed them when she retired.
In 1971, BeBe became mom to her only child, Michelle. In 1998, BeBe became a Mimi to her first grandson Gunnar and in 2005 she became Mimi to her second grandson Gage. BeBe loved her daughter and grandsons tremendously and spent as much time as possible with them. She loved to spend time with family. Anytime family got together it was food, laughter, and canasta card games that were very competitive! She was a devoted daughter to her mother and daddy until they passed in 2001 and 2003.
Later in life she enjoyed spending time with her friends visiting and doing mosaic crafts, and going to their “lunch bunch” gatherings. She truly cherished her friendships and the fun times they had together.
After some ongoing health issues, BeBe went to be with our Lord Jesus on June 24th. Her family would like to thank Crown Hospice, Twin Pines North, her numerous caregivers, and the Mercy House for taking such great, compassionate care of our BeBe.
BeBe is survived by her daughter Michelle Crockett (Greg), grandsons Gunnar Godley and Gage Staton, sisters Jackie Cardwell Goodwin and Becky Cardwell Hill (Gene), brother-in-law Dean Shafer and first husband Mike Taylor and second husband Cris Bone as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Mary Lou Cardwell, sisters Sandy Cardwell and Sharyl Lou Cardwell Shafer, and son-in-law Brad Ruthven.
