
He was born December 4, 1931, in Yoakum to the late Louis D. and Myrtle Maude Wallace Emerson. Edwin was retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 29 years of service. He also proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, V.F.W. Post # 4146 and the Korean War Veteran’s Post #223.
Survivors include his son, Edwin Emerson, Jr., of Cabot, Arkansas; daughter, Sharon Emerson-Stonnell, and husband, David, of Prospect, Virginia; grandson, Brandon Emerson and his wife, Alice, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Allene Bradley Emerson; brothers, Louis Douglas Emerson, Jr., Melvin “Dudley” Emerson; sister, Evelyn Faye Emerson; daughter, Edwina Emerson.
Graveside services will be held Monday, January 31, 2011, at 10 am at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery in Port Lavaca, Rev. Mickey Ewing officiating.
