Wesly John Vincik, 37 of Austin Texas passed away unexpectedly on May 8, 2020. He was born to John and Lisa Vincik of Edna, Texas on March 7, 1983. He is survived by his parents; the love of his life, Siiri Marquardt; one brother, Thomas Vincik and his wife Valerie; a nephew Reid Vincik; two nieces Avery and Leah Vincik and paternal grandmother, Pauline Vincik.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Euva Eager; paternal grandfather, Adolph Vincik; as well as his favorite uncle, Bradley Prukop known to Wes as Uncle BB.
Wes grew up on the family farm where he spent most of his summers driving a tractor or grain truck during harvest. He graduated from Industrial High School in Vanderbilt, Texas in 2001.
After high school, Wes set out to conquer the world, small town life just wasn’t for him! He attended The University of Texas in Austin and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2005. While attending UT, he spent his summers working with YouthWorks Mission Trips, where he traveled to places such as Juarez Mexico, Honduras, West Virginia, and Washington DC just to name a few. As much as he loved working with YouthWorks, the summer mission trips had an added bonus of being away from the farm during summer harvest.
His next adventure took him to Dallas, Texas where he attended Dallas Theological Seminary and graduated with a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling in 2008. He begrudgingly moved back to the farm after graduation. Not long after, he headed back to the place he loved and called home, Austin. He lived there happily until his untimely exit from this world.
Wes’ work career started off at CARY: Counsel for At Risk Youth, a program that was implemented in middle schools for at risk youth in Austin Independent School District (AISD). From there he went to work for AISD running one of their afterschool programs for disadvantaged children. Leaving AISD he worked at Sun Power Solar and also dabbled in solar panel sales. In December 2018, Wes found his way to Software Advice where he found an amazing work family that loved sharing memes and work happy hours as much as he did. Wes worked there until the time of his death. When Wes conquered a problem, task or career goal, he always moved forward looking for his next challenge.
In his spare time he enjoyed playing on adult basketball teams, kickball teams, biking, throwing axes and also ran a 10K. He visited and critiqued as many of Austin’s local bars and restaurants as he could. He thrived to Keep Austin Weird! He enjoyed beating everyone at Words with Friends and Song Pop. Ironically, his love for all music came from the dreaded summers he spent on the tractor for 14 hours a day with only a radio as company.
In June of 2017, Wes found his forever partner and the love of his life, Siiri Marquardt! The two of them loved to travel together, they would point at a place on the map and say, let’s go! They visited Colombia, Belize and multiple US states. Siiri’s fur baby, Ollie and Wes became fast friends. So much so that Ollie was at Wes’ side until the very end. Siiri and Wes had recently added a new member to their family, Maisie, a four-legged ball of fur. The last 3 years of Wes’ life spent with Siiri and their fur-babies were the happiest years of his life.
Even though Wes’ life was cut short, he lived more life in 37 years than most of us ever will. Wes will be greatly missed by everyone who’s life he has impacted but his memories will live on with us forever.
