

William L. “Bill” Bena, 83, of Victoria passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born on January 10, 1931,in Victoria to the late Joseph and Emelia Meyer Bena. He was a Maintenance Supervisor for Union Carbide, retiring after thirty seven years. Bill proudly served his country as a US Marine during the Korean Conflict and will be honored by his comrades with military graveside services.
Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Kathleen Taylor Bena; sons, Larry Bena of San Antonio, Randy Bena of Victoria; daughter, Carol Alexander of Inez; step-daughter, Kimberly Jackson of Longview; step-sons, Justin Alexander of Victoria; George Alexander of Inez; sister, Virginia Barbery of Waxahachie; grandsons, Chris Bena, Cory Bena, Daniel Bena, Austin Alexander, Andrew Alexander, Aaron Alexander, Brandon Alexander, Kyle Alexander, Parker Jackson, Jake Alexander, Joshua Jackson; granddaughters, Kelly Bena, Kendall Bena, Isabella Alexander, Lauren Cochran and great grandson, Alexander Jackson.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bena was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Bena; six brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 PM on Friday, April 11, 2014,t Rosewood Funeral Chapels with a Rosary to be recited at 7 PM and led by Deacon Steve Borowicz.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church at 11 AM Saturday, April 12, 2014, with Rev. George Henninger officiating. Interment with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be brothers-in-law, Joe Sullivan, Scotty Bledsoe, Robby McArthur, Drew Scherz and Steven Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers will be all his Riverside Golf and Card Buddies.
