He was a member of Midtown Church of Christ. He was a retired pipeline maintenance supervisor for Union Carbide. Bill also proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign and the Philippine Liberation.
Bill treasured the time spent with his family and close friends. Thru the years, he enjoyed his horses, the outdoors, and fishing. He was very special to his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Bill is survived by his wife, Betty J. Key; daughters, Janis Ann Fossati and husband Timothy of Nursery, and Nancy Carol Fortenberry and husband Michael of Normana; son, Dwayne Key and wife Crestina of Beeville; brother, Norman T. Key and wife Valeria of La Porte; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and special friends, Blake and Jennifer Shaw, Sharon Hamilton, and Cathy Thomason.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Thelma Fread; and brothers, Monroe J. Key and Wayne G. Key.
Visitation will be held 4:00pm to 7:00 pm Friday, July 5, 2013 at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Midtown Church of Christ, with Mr. Will McDonald officiating.
Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors under Auspices of Victoria County Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, Ex-POW, MOPH, VVA and the KWV Serving as pallbearers will be Weldon Holmes, Paul Purswell, Mony Key, Roger Smith, Jeffery Key, Virgil Simms, and Alan Harrod. Honorary pallbearers include his grandsons, Nick Barsness, William Fossati, and Juan Rincon, and nephew, Robert Koenig.
