Bill was born October 26, 1944, in Victoria, Texas to the late Vernon Jatho Leur and Mary Elizabeth (Smith) Leur. He was a 1962 graduate of Victoria High School and received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas. He was a Certified Public Accountant and worked at Safety Steel Service as a Controller for 32 years and as an auditor for the Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission for 5 years before retiring in 2013. Bill was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Victoria.
He married Genevieve Marie (Smith) Leur on December 27, 1969, at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral in Victoria. They were blessed with 54 years of marriage with two children and four grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Gena, and daughter Kelley Elizabeth (Leur) Keeth; husband Chad Keeth of Bulverde, Texas and his son Matthew Hamilton Leur of Victoria. Other surviving family include his grandchildren Katelyn Keeth, Kamryn Keeth, and Colt Keeth of Bulverde and Matylynn Leur of Victoria; his brother Richard Leur and half-sister Kimberly Leur. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Jimmy Leur, sisters Wanda Blaine, Linda Cunningham, Beverly Leur, and daughter-in-law Tonya Woytek Leur.
The grandchildren called him Pawpaw but he was also fondly referred to as Trail Boss by his family and close friends. The name came about due to his skills “rounding” them up and organizing the annual camping trip to Garner State Park. He enjoyed his Frio camping trips and loving on his dogs. Bill was loved dearly by many and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends and family with a Visitation at Rosewood Funeral Home in Victoria, Texas on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 pm with a Rosary following at 7:00 pm. A Catholic mass will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Victoria at 10:00 am with burial following at Resurrection Cemetery.
