

Willie Ann Adams Hodge, age 91, passed into “His nearer presence” on July 4, 2011. She was born to Ed and Charles Ann Adams on March 22, 1920 in Luling, Texas. She graduated from Roosevelt High School (Luling) in 1938, and obtained professional credentials from Crescent Beauty School (Austin, TX) in 1939.
Willie Ann lived most of her life in Victoria, Texas marrying Elroy Hodge, Jr. on June 30th, 1940. She was a faithful member of Webster Chapel (United) Methodist Church from 71 years, serving as a member of the Communion Board and the United Methodist Women.
She owned and operated her own beauty shop for several decades until poor health forced her into retirement.
Willie Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her seven siblings.
She is survived by her daughters, Velma Mathis (Joe), Barbara Hodge, Carolyn Hill (Clemon), Roysteen Mathis (Jesse), and Patricia Tanner (Charles), six grandchildren, Roderick Hill (Gloria), Nicole Mathis Walker (Jerry), Dana Mathis Nail (Robert), Christopher Tanner, Jason Mathis, and Russell Tanner (Tammy); five great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to offer heartfelt thanks to the Victoria Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, DeTar Hospital (4th floor staff), Dr. Kathpalia, pastor and members of Webster Chapel United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, July 8, 20199 at the Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Funeral services for Mrs. Hodge will be held at 11 Am on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Webster Chapel United Methodist Church, ,405 S. Wheeler Street, with Rev. Z. Woodson officiating. Interment will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
