

Amy was born on December 13, 1942, in Manila, Philippines. She was the second child to Santiago and Rosalia (Martinez) Apostol and a doting sibling to Patrick (deceased) Elizabeth, Reynaldo, Belen(d) Lilian (d), and Herman.
She attended V. Mapa Manila East High School (Class of ‘58) and enrolled herself at Far Eastern University in 1960. She later married Corleto Sr. “Lito” Manuel on April 15, 1963, and started a family of their own. Their firstborn Noli was born in the same year. Followed by Jayr in 1965. Eventually, Amy earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce - majoring in Finance in 1966. She was a focused and intelligent woman, juggled between her family and professional life; worked full and side income to help Lito support the family.
Amy worked in various companies like the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), (‘83-‘86), National Home Mortgage Finance Corp (NHMFC), until 1996. With Lito’s passing in November of 1991, Amy continued to be a good provider and a loving mother to her four children.
While still employed, she got a Master’s degree in Business Administration, in 1996, at the University of Makati.
Upon migrating to the US in 1996, she worked in various companies in Los Angeles, where she met and later married George Lloyd in 1999. Her passion was traveling around the globe. With George’s passing in March of 2013, Amy remained steadfast in faith in God and continued to live a joyous and active personal and professional life with family and friends. Her daughter, Melisa, and son Jayr later migrated to the US and lived with her in Palmdale, CA.
Amy worked for the City of Los Angeles since 1999. She started as Clerk-Typist in the Budget Section of the Bureau of Sanitation, Department of Public Works, and was promoted to various positions in the City. In August of 2006, she joined the General Services Department’s Publishing Services Division as Sr Accountant II.
Amy is preceded in death by husbands Corleto, Sr. “Lito” Manuel and George Lloyd; grandsons, Francis and Miguel and survived by her children Noli (Sol, Katrina) Melisa, Rachelle (Roberto, Kyla, Zion), granddaughter Kyla (Erol), great-granddaughters; Mary Heyacinth, Kobe Maxine and Callista; brother Reynaldo ( Paz), sister Elizabeth (Roger), nieces and nephews.
Amy, at 80, remained active, healthy, and employed until her demise on May 19, 2023, with her son JAMES CORLETO “JAYR” MANUEL JR., 57, on their way to Las Vegas.
JAMES CORLETO “JAYR” MANUEL JR,
Jayr was born on August 11, 1965, in Manila, Philippines, to Corleto, Sr. and Amelia (Apostol) Manuel.
Following his High School graduation from Sacred Heart Academy of Novaliches in 1981, he attended the Philippine School of Business Administration (PSBA) and received a BS degree in Business Administration majoring in Accounting in 1986, System Technology Institute(STI) Computer programs and Operation (‘94) and completed Masters in Business administration (MBA)at PSBA in ‘97.
He landed his first job with Far East Bank In Ayala, Makati in 1987, which started his career in Accounting. He established this path throughout the years, working for various companies such as Union Bank, Orient Commercial Banking Corp, and Manila Consulting, to name a few, as an accountant. In 2002, Jayr joined the BPO industry and was under the employ of companies like SMI Services, Sykes Asia, Medicall, and Telus.
In January 2015, he migrated to the United States and worked for the City of Los Angeles since February 2015. He started working for the City of Los Angeles, Department of Building and Safety as an Accountant in March of 2016 until his demise on May 19, 2023.
He actively participated in social groups, regularly donated blood, and was a member of OPM (Organisasyon of Pilipinong Mang-aawit). Jayr had a zest for travel and possessed a jovial personality, was always ready to entertain and extend his hospitality as a good friend. He showed genuine love and care for his nephew, niece, and grandchildren. He was a loving son to Amy and a companion to her whenever she needed to go somewhere.
He continued donating blood to American Red Cross and passionately served at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Palmdale and served as a lector in the community Catholic Church back in the Philippines. He became a US Citizen in 2021.
Jayr loved to perform and shared his active life and countless travels on various social media. He never failed to amaze people with his skill and prowess in playing the piano and keyboard with minimal formal training. He aimed to travel around the world and had a bucket list. He noted birthdays and events in his big calendar and was even set to go on another trip to the U.K. in September 2023. He planned his days ahead and was scheduled to meet up with friends for this trip.”
