Bertha May Melbihess

October 17, 1939 - September 17, 2025

Bertha Melbihess passed away peacefully at home on September 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 85.

Born in Jellico, TN to John Parrott and Amanda H. Hyslope Parrott, she was the youngest of 11 children. She enjoyed cooking beans and cornbread with a glass of buttermilk and many of the foods she ate and loved growing up. She loved to start her morning with a cup of coffee and reading the daily newspaper. She dearly loved her dogs and cats that she had throughout the years and left a lasting impression of love on us all. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was a devoted wife to her husband Robert D. Melvihess and a warm-hearted mother to her two children, Misty S. Melbihess and Timothy S. Canter. Though her beloved son Timothy passed away March 3, 2024, he was dearly loved by her and his spirit lived on in her heart.

She is survived by her husband Robert Danny Melvihess, her daughter Misty Sue Melbihess, and her two grandchildren Amanda R. Melbihess, and Daniel C. Melbihess.

Her memorial/ funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 1st at 9:00 AM at Victor Valley Mortuary Inc. where she will be laid to rest.

We miss her greatly and although she has passed we find comfort in knowing she is with the Lord Jesus Christ, her son, and mama who she missed for many years.
