Billie Jean Bickmore, 77, passed quietly and peacefully at her Hesperia home with family by her side on January 2, 2019. Known for years as “Sissy” to her family and closest friends, Billie and her husband Charles “Chuck” Bickmore came to Hesperia in 1997 after four decades of residing in the Inland Empire. Among her many passions, Billie most cherished her family, her dogs Skippy and Scooter, and the tranquility of the backyard Utopia she and Chuck created during their 22 years together in their high-desert home. Billie spent many a morning wandering along the garden pathways that wing and intersect among the thickets of foliage, towering pines and fruit trees. She and Chuck would enjoy morning coffee together on a small bench below the pine boughs near a large decorative stone engraved with a single word: “Tranquility.” While her grove-and-garden sanctuary was her special place, Billie’s favorite place on Earth was the island of Maui. While employed for many years with Alaska and United airlines, Billie enjoyed her free flight benefits to the fullest. She retained those benefits into retirement, and although she and Chuck travelled extensively elsewhere, their most oft-travelled route took them to Kahului. Maui was her true “Tranquility.” Along with husband Chuck, Billie is survived by her son, Daniel of Las Vegas, NV, her daughter Dayna of Hesperia, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A Hawaiian-themed celebration of Billie’s life will take place on Saturday, January 19 from 1-4pm in the Assembly Rooms at Rick Novak Community Center, 13558 Palm Street in Hesperia.
