Charles E. Sample was born in Clarksdale, MO on September 24, 1927, the youngest of 8 children, to Arthur J. Sample & Mable Ytell. After high school Charles joined the Merchant Marines, and then the US Army and served his country as a radar operator in the Korean war. Charles married the love of his life, Mollie, on June 5th, 1955. They raised their children Jim, Robin, and Charles Jr. in California. After his honorable discharge in 1953 Charles worked in the grocery business, retiring from Lucky Markets in 1987. He truly enjoyed his pilot's license, motorcycle riding, and deep sea fishing trips but found his greatest joy in being a grandfather to his six grandchildren; Jimmy, Shelley, Jake, Anna, Joseph and Jessica, and many great-grandchildren. Charles treasured his family, building many memories of family vacations, birthday parties and holiday gatherings. Charles was a proud Mason and a member of The Shriners. Charles passed peacefully on November 28th, 2020, and will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside CA. Charles is survived by son Jim, and daughter Robin. He is predeceased by his parents, siblings, Mollie, and son Charles Jr.
Charles is greatly missed and his memory lives forever in our hearts.
