

Dennis was born on 24 June 1941 in San Francisco, California. He passed away on Wednesday, July 15 in Victorville. His parents were Earl Tom Evans and Evelyn Luella Hammer. He grew up in the bay area of California living in Burlingame and San Mateo. He graduated from Hillsdale High School in San Mateo in 1959. He worked for Pacific Telephone in San Jose while attending San Jose State College. He took a leave from work, bought a sail boat and sailed around Europe for a year.
He served in the California Army National Guard from 1966 to 1971.
He worked for various companies doing contracting work for telephone companies in the western states. Some of his employers were Tel-Craft, Daily Transit in Helendale and he briefly worked at Tony Piazza’s Liquor Store in Apple Valley. He was hired on for Contel in 1985. Contel changed to GTE and then Verizon. He retired from Verizon.
Dennis was skilled at carpentry, model railroading, sailing, and skiing. He played the accordion, recorder and washtub bass and really enjoyed playing and singing with a local Bluegrass group. He did volunteer work with the Boy Scouts and Just Serve.
He is survived by his wife, Susan (Cox); children – Megan (Steve) Wilson of San Jose, California; Jeremy (Amee) Babcock of Austin Texas, Samuel (Marcie) Evans of Victorville; Nathaniel (Holly) Evans of El Paso, Texas; Sarah (Mike) Kelly of Victorville; Rebecca (Dustin) King of Victorville; his sister Donna (Gene) Arrillaga of Fremont, California; seventeen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Michael Evans.
