Once in Bakersfield “Mi Apa" worked as a “Supervisor,” in a poultry plant. He then moved his family to Huntsinger’s Ranch in Acton, Ca., and worked as a supervisor in this poultry establishment as well. “Mi Apa" settled his family in Apple Valley, Ca. in 1972 and was a “Foreman” at the poultry plant in Jess Ranch (Apple Valley, Ca.) until it closed. “Mi Apa,” was never without work; with a limited education, “Mi Apa,” established his own landscaping business “Martinez & Sons,” which became a family business. A long time business where everyone had a hand; especially “Mi Ama,” whom rode by his side everyday. He was very proud of his very own successful business, he was able to support his family for 35 years.
“Mi Apa,” will be missed very much by so many. He extended a hand of help to whomever was in need. He loved his family and welcomed all whom entered his home. Family gatherings were his favorite events to attend, especially when the “Family Reunions,” were established. Being around his siblings and reminiscing was an all time favorite of his. There was not a person “Mi Apa” would turn away and there was always plenty of work for everyone. He shared the “dollar,” “Mi Apa” would make the “dollar” stretch to help anyone who was willing to work and/or give them a helping hand.
