Eugene Q. Estrada Jr. returned home to the Lord on November 24, 2018 after a hard-fought battle with his health. Born December 21, 1947 in Santa Clara, CA to Eugene V. Estrada and Rosalie Estrada, Eugene graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1966. During high school he was president of the Chancellors where he met many lifelong friends. Most importantly, he married his high school sweet heart, Geraldine Sandoval, in 1967. Together they had three children: Eugene III, Dean, and Cynthia. During their 51 years of marriage, Eugene supported Geraldine and their children through his employment at California Steel Industries as a heavy equipment operator before retiring in 2013 after 35 years. Eugene has been a resident of Hesperia, CA for 39 years.
From a young age Eugene excelled in many sports, which led to a life-long love for coaching in the community. In addition to his passion for coaching and working with the younger generation, he maintained a youthful exuberance exemplified by his love for music, dancing, and sense of humor. His passion for life was evidenced by an abundance of memorable times with those that he loved. Always willing to help others in need, Eugene found inspiration reading the Bible, expressing his service to God through the labor of his hands. As the patriarch of his family, he raised his children and grandchildren to never shy away from hard work, to love one another unconditionally, and to always make time for family. Eugene was a son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a friend; above all else, he was a family man who spent his most cherished moments surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
While preceded in death by his parents and his son, Dean, he is survived by his wife, Geraldine, two children, Eugene III and Cynthia, seven grandchildren, Eugene IV, Alyssa, Adam, Dean, Bryan, Matthew, and Luke, Son-in-law, David Meadows, Grandchildren-in-law, Rikki, Frank, and Celina, four great-grandchildren, Ariana, Audrey, Scarlett, and Deanna, and his siblings, Marie, Richard, and Maynerd.
Eugene leaves behind not only a legacy dedicated to hard work, but one filled with laughter and an overflow of love for his family and friends. His memory will no doubt be preserved and cherished by all who knew him.
Services will be held at Desert View Memorial in Victorville, CA 92392. Viewing will take place on Friday, December 14th from 5-7pm; a memorial will take place on Saturday, December 15th, with viewing beginning at 12pm and services beginning at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be sent to Geraldine Estrada at 13789 Sultana St, Hesperia, CA 92344.
