Gisela was born in Berlin on December 23, 1935. She traveled via ship to the United States in 1955 with her oldest child, Ines. She first settled in Kentucky, the home town of her first husband. She quickly moved to Northern California where her second child Michael was born, in 1956.
She met her second husband Bernie in the Lompoc area where the pair had Gisela’s third child, also named Bernie. They later moved to the High Desert, eventually settling into their Apple Valley home. She was married to Bernie for 45 years before he died in 2004.
Gisela was a tailor by trade for much of her life and continued to sew well into her retirement.
She was known for her directness in conversation, a love for the 49ers and keeping in touch with family in Germany.
She is survived by two of her children, Ines (Richard) and Bernie (Teresa), grandson Daniel (Alison) and great-grandson Emerson.
